The first league away game of the season and it’s Wrexham as we meet them for the first competitive league game ever on Saturday lunchtime.

These two sides haven’t faced each other since 1930 but we did face Wrexham in Pre Season all the way back in 2003. The Baggies are however are looking to bounce back after their EFL Cup heartbreak on Tuesday by losing on penalties to Derby County.

However, we are looking to make it back to back league victories having beat Blackburn on the opening day.

Wrexham did have a 1-0 lead to Southampton on opening day but lost the game 2-1 with the Saints scoring twice on added time. Going to the Racecourse would be a difficult place for us to come on Saturday and the atmosphere would be huge as Wrexham are playing in front of their home fans for the first time in the Championship.

Player To Watch – Wrexham

Player to watch for Wrexham is Kieffer Moore I’m going for their new striker due to his Championship experience and I am tipping him to do well against us on Saturday. He has played over 200 games at this level and has had promotion experience with Ipswich and Bournemouth.

He brings aerial ability and hold up play then knack for bringing his teammates into the attack that suits Phil Parkinson’s style well. Beyond his technical skills, Moore has provided the work ethic and leadership that could make the difference in Wrexham’s first home game of the season.

Player To Watch – West Brom

Tom Fellows would be my player to watch against Wrexham as he has the most assists in the Championship last season I think he would be key to watch against the Welsh side on Saturday.

He would cause problems for the Wrexham defence and could bring a surprise or two on Saturday, he combines flashing creativity, technical ability, and an emerging consistency—all the while drawing national-level attention and potentially putting himself in the shop window with Everton and Southampton looking interested in signing him this transfer window.

My Line Up V Wrexham

Here is the line up I would go for against Wrexham, Griffiths would come back in goal for me, I tried to put Alex Williams in place of Furlong but his name was not on the Line Up Builder site after Tuesday’s performance his name should be on there but for now I stick with Furlong.

Campbell and Phillips would go in as centre backs with Heggem looking set to join Bologna in a £10M move away from The Hawthorns.

In midfield I have Diakite come into the starting line up pairing up with Molumby and in attack I have Tom Fellows and Mikey Johnston in the wing with Isaac Price who has been in excellent form since joining us last January in behind Aune Heggebo who is looking set to carry on from his recent goal against Derby in the cup on Tuesday night.

Prediction V Wrexham

Predictions… An Away game is always hard to predict knowing we haven’t won an away game since November at Hull City. With our away form being that awful I think I would be happy to take a point here come Saturday at 3pm.

For this prediction, I say Wrexham would start on the front foot by causing some problems and say within the first 4 minutes of the game James McClean former West Brom winger would get the first goal to put Wrexham ahead.

After the early setback, we would try and get the equaliser but within the 32 minute Heggebo would be taken down by Conor Coady with the referee pointing to the penalty spot and eventually Coady would receive a red card following a denial goalscoring opportunity.

Isaac Price would then convert the spotkick to bring the score line at 1-1 knowing the Baggies have advantage with Wrexham down to 10 men. Near half-time we would provide more chances but at the break the scores would be level.

Second half we would make a few changes with Mikey Johnston coming off for Josh Maja to play two strikers with Maja and Heggebo, within 55 minutes Josh Maja would score from a header following a Tom Fellows stepover to put the Baggies in front in Wrexham’s opening game at The Racecourse Stadium.

Now with West Brom leading, Wrexham would provide a few chances to put the scores level and around the 76th minute mark the scores would be 2-2 with Kieffer Moore getting his first goal in Wrexham colours, but with Wrexham down to 10 men and experienced Conor Coady sent off around 10 minutes left to play Karlan Grant would score from outside the box to give the Baggies a win.

In my prediction I think we could see the game out with a high-score game as both teams are good in attack but poor in defence with Coady who could be hot headed in this one as he is coming up against the Baggies knowing his rivalry with them when he was at Wolves could catch up with him, if this happens then we would come out on top with a narrow victory and another Wrexham set back late on.

Prediction: Wrexham 2-3 West Brom

Goalscorers for Wrexham: James McClean, Kieffer Moore

Goalscorers for West Brom: Isaac Price (P), Josh Maja, Karlan Grant

A narrow win for West Brom would be the perfect springboard heading into the weekend, but the real spectacle lies ahead as they prepare to take on “Hollywood” in the form of Wrexham. This isn’t just another Championship fixture—it’s a meeting of football cultures. On one side, a club steeped in tradition, graft, and the relentless grind of England’s second tier; on the other, a team revitalized under the global spotlight, with Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney turning the Racecourse Ground into a stage for both drama and fairytale narratives.
