The Baggies suffered a crucial defeat in their battle for survival, losing to 23rd-placed Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium. In what was a vital relegation six-pointer, the loss leaves West Brom with even more to worry about as they face an uphill struggle to stay in the league.

Another relegation six-pointer, another defeat. This time, it was Oxford United who took all three points, leaving the Baggies with a painful 2-1 loss. It’s been a season to forget, following heavy defeats to Norwich City (5-0 at home) and Portsmouth (3-0 away). Now, with this latest setback, things are looking increasingly grim. The club’s survival hopes are hanging by a thread, and this could very well go down as the worst season in West Brom’s 148-year history. The pressure is mounting, and the team needs a dramatic turnaround to avoid an unprecedented disaster.
It’s only Leicester’s point deduction that is keeping us 1 point above the relegation zone, it is increasably likely that the team would be dragged into it as we haven’t won a league game since the 29th December against QPR at Home. it’s now 10 games without a league win and would the side actually win a game again this season?
The Baggies had a bright start to the game as they couldn’t find a opener and in the 14th minute mark the hosts Oxford found it through a Mills header from their corner.
It got worse half way through the first half, as former loanee Will Lankshear scored the second as he converted another set-piece leaving the Baggies in a really tough place and was looking a very poor Saturday afternoon it was.
Now Mikey Johnston got injured and might be out for the rest of the season and substitute Ollie Bostock did find the net before half-time. The winger deflected shot gave the youngster his first in Albion’s colours and a chance to comeback into the game.
In the second half Josh Maja had his header saved and the wall blocked out Jed Wallace’s free-kick.
Heggebo saw his flick gathered with the game it’s last 10 minutes and Biellik’s header went wide as we didn’t get back into the game and ensured another defeat in another six pointer as Oxford United came with all three points.

What does this sum up for the Albion right now, I think those senior players are a disgrace to be playing for this football side after a series of disappointing results over the season. How can we be sitting comfortably second in the league after an away win at Stoke back in August 10 points in 4 games to now be sitting one point above the relegation zone and if it wasn’t for Leicester’s point deduction we would be 3 points adrift from safety with a poor goal difference.
Now after 31 games since Stoke away we have picked up 25 points and to say that is absolutely shocking of how we’ve gone backwards and the same players week in week out have seen off two managers in that short space of time is absolutely shocking. These don’t seem to be professional enough to wear the badge and that summed up the fans frustration at Oxford come full time yesterday afternoon.
I hate to say that we deserve to get relegated from this league and we are very lucky to be 21st in the league and some of these don’t care about playing for us or our fanbase. How can our sort of side be losing 5-0 at home to Norwich who were below us at the time, lose 3-0 to Portsmouth and be below us at the time and now losing to Oxford who were winless in two months yesterday. Looking at it I think Oxford would finish above us and definitely think we wont come out of this rot anytime soon.
I be back with a match preview for Sheffield United come Thursday evening and be in attendance for the game.
