The Baggies are back at The Hawthorns this coming Saturday as they take on Swansea City in the Sky Bet Championship for the 4th game of the league season.

Last time out The Baggies shined in South Staffordshire on a bank holiday weekend where we visited the Bet365 Stadium and came away with a 2-1 victory over Stoke City. It’s a great start of the season so far us as we have picked up 7 points in our first 3 games marking this our best start since our promotion campaign in 2019-20 season.

Swansea City have picked up 4 points so far in their first 3 games where they drew 1-1 last time out in the league in a Welsh derby against Cardiff City and did lose 1-0 to Wycombe in the Carabao Cup this week. Now, Swansea City is a difficult side we play against where we have lost 3 out of 4 games against them and I still remember the last of the season in 2022-23 and the trip to Swansea on New Years Day last season but with us playing at home could this give us advantage and help us overcome Swansea?

There is also big news come in the week as Mikey Johnston looks set to make a £3M move to The Hawthorns after talks he is set to join where he is currently having an medical at the Training Ground and further news would be announced in the coming hours.

Player To Watch – Swansea City

Liam Cullen scored the only goal in last season’s New Years Day battle at the Swansea.com Stadium.

Liam Cullen would be my player to watch as he scored the only goal for Swansea against us on New Years Day last season, he scored last weekend in the Welsh Derby against Cardiff City and looks certain to make this a good scoring run he is on. Last season he managed to just get 7 goals in 45 games where one of his goals was against us but could this mean he could be the one striker who always scores against the Baggies on away days.

I think Cullen would be a threat to our defence at The Hawthorns on Saturday and would like to get on the scoresheet and gain another goal against the Albion but with the likes of Heggem, Ajayi and Bartley could they be the ones to stop him?

I do believe Liam Cullen is likely to have a good game if he performs at his very best but I do think our defence could stop him but if he brings his goal last weekend to The Hawthorns I think we would have a task on our hands.

Player To Watch – West Brom

If there is no interest from Premier League clubs wanting his name, it’s certainly going to be Tom Fellows. With Ipswich Town, Everton and Southampton looking to bring him before deadline day it looks likely from sources that he is not for sale and could be staying put for the time being to help secure our promotion push we would be aiming for this season.

Fellows got the two assists last weekend at Stoke City where he provided Karlan Grant with a header and Josh Maja a finish to see off Stoke. Now is attention is on Swansea City at The Hawthorns and if he starts I think he could put on a performance and help us beat Swansea to keep our good start of the season going, I say he could get on the scoresheet but who knows?

He also has the fans singing his name by the song of Gold by Spandau Ballet in most games throughout last season and this season so far, but would they sing it throughout the game against Swansea on Saturday and would he help us secure all but 3 important points?

My Line Up V Swansea

My line up against Swansea would be the same as the last game against Stoke City, I would put the new players like Uroš Račić. If Mikey Johnston is due to play for this game then I could give him a start alongside Karlan Grant and Tom Fellows and put John Swift on the bench.

Mikey Johnston has not been announced yet in time for this match preview was published and this is what the team is currently against Swansea.

Predictions V Swansea

Prediction it is so far I have predicted 2 wins and 1 draw and it would give us 7 points in our first 3 games where we are currently. I predicted the QPR game a draw where this was actually a win where I said Leeds and Stoke we would both win (Leeds we drew) and Stoke I got right where we won 2-1.

The predictions I make sometimes goes my way but it would be a tricky game as we are facing Swansea City where we only got 1 win out of them in 6 games where they actually beat us 5 times in 6 games I do think Swansea is our new bogey team alongside Sunderland I hate facing teams that start with S expect for Stoke of cause but they were our bogey team about 15 years ago.

Lets hope we break the hoodoo against Swansea and secure our 2nd home win against them. I do think we get the opening goal with Tom Fellows scoring early on in the 9th minute, half way through the half Swansea would hit back I do think they have goals in them and have got good finishers in the likes of Liam Cullen and he would get them back level before half time.

I say it be 1-1 at half time, pressure be on in the second half and in the 60th minute mark I say Tom Fellows would get a brace to get us the lead back at 2-1 and near the last 10 minutes Swansea would get a penalty with Liam Cullen making it 2-2 making this a tough game to play for at The Hawthorns, with added time added I say we get a free kick right at the end with Kyle Bartley the former Swansea City player getting us the late victory from a header to give us the three points.

Another 3-2 game against Swansea like last season at home, I believe both sides have goals in them and I think it could be an entertaining game at The Hawthorns on Saturday and could be a great game to watch. Lets see what happens and hopefully get the win to end August on a high.
