The Baggies secured an impressive 3-0 victory over play-off hopefuls Hull City at The Hawthorns on Saturday, lifting them out of the relegation zone in style.

The first half started off well during the opening stages where Danny Imray saw his volley saved and Josh Maja headed wide.
At the other end Oli McBurnie did threaten the Baggies as Max O’Leary kept one attempt out whilst Nat Phillips blocked the other of Hull’s shot. Heggebø might have done better inside the box here Ivor Pandur kept out his finish, however Josh Maja deservedly broke the deadlock to put his side in front.
Jed Wallace took advantage of a loose goal kick to run forward and cross into Josh Maja’s path as he made no mistake to make it 1-0.
Hull then went down to 10 men as Charlie Hughes pulled back Jed Wallace, as the winger caused the Tigers issues down the right.
Albion created a number of chances to strike again, as they couldn’t get another before the break. Isaac Price and Josh Maja had efforts saved and Hull cleared a Jayson Molumby header off the line after Callum Styles corner almost creeped in.
There was opportunities after the break, where Ousmane Diakite shot was deflected past the post as Pandur stopped a Isaac Price curler.
There were further opportunities after the interval, too. Ousmane Diakite’s shot was deflected past the post, and Pandur stopped a Price curler.
The Baggies doubled their advantage on the 67th minute, with his first touch for substitute Jimoh-Aloba who provided in a great cross for Aune Heggebo to convert to make it 2-0.
Callum Styles nearly made it 3-0 where he striked the post but Isaac Price added the third for the afternoon for the Baggies to make it now three unbeaten for the Baggies and out of the relegation zone.
West Brom 3-0 Hull City
Goalscorers for West Brom: Josh Maja (25′) Aune Heggebo (67′), Isaac Price (90+4′)
What a great day for the Baggies, a great performance and kicked on since Wednesday to get our first win for 14 games and the first of 2026. It’s been a good week for James Morrison as we are unbeaten in 3 games against teams in and around the play-offs.
Next up is Bristol City away next Saturday before the international break and this win as us out the relegation zone and hopefully Morrison’s football is helping us steer away from the drop zone with 8 games remaining I now feel more confident we can stay in this division next season and avoid relegation.
