The Baggies earned a 2-1 win over Oxford United on Saturday afternoon at The Hawthorns. Will Lankshear broke the deadlock for Oxford before their own goal and Heggebo’s effort secured all three points.

The hosts tried early, yet they couldn’t capitalize on a series of set pieces, whilst Karlan Grant sent a speculative volley wide.

Oxford survived that spell and created a few chances themselves, Przemyslaw Placheta fired wide, and Josh Griffiths saved a Cameron Brannagan dipping attempt.

With half time looming, Mikey Johnston cut inside and hit one, but it went wide and left the sides goalless at the break.

In the second half, the game came to life as Oxford United found the opening through ex-player Will Lankshear on the 54th minute with a close-range finish. The Baggies then equalised straight away thanks to an own-goal – an Oxford defender diverting home Callum Styles cross.

Molumby and Heggebo came on and the Norwegian strikers superb near-post header following Isaac Price’s pinpoint ball secured all three points for the Baggies.

West Brom: Griffiths, Gilchrist (Bielik 87), Phillips, Taylor, Styles, Diakite (Molumby 62), Mowatt, Grant (Iling-Junior 79), Price, Johnston (Collyer 87), Maja (Heggebø 62).

Not a bad way with a result to start the International Break, this result would keep Ryan Mason in a job after the break with a trip to high-flying Coventry City up next at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
