It was another bitterly frustrating night at The Hawthorns as Baggies were held to a 1–1 draw by Charlton Athletic — a result that ultimately proved costly for head coach Eric Ramsay.

The Baggies created more than enough chances to put the game to bed but once again lacked the cutting edge when it mattered most. Wasteful finishing and missed opportunities left the door open for Charlton to claim a share of the spoils, and the sense of déjà vu around the ground was impossible to ignore.
The draw was not enough to preserve Ramsay’s position, with the club confirming his dismissal just an hour after full-time. It marks West Brom’s third managerial search of the season — a sign of the instability that continues to plague the campaign.
Former midfielder James Morrison will now step in as interim manager, tasked with steadying the ship and help with this unexpected relegation battle to the third tier of English football.
The Baggies have had the best of the first half, initially creating a few half-chances when Campbell saw an awkward effort that was saved from close-range and Charlie Taylor saw his volley narrowly off-target.
Max O’Leary was forced into making a save from Harry Clarke’s strike as the Baggies looked to press for an opening as the break drew nearer.
The goal came during added time, as Alex Mowatt swung in a corner towards the back-post where George Campbell arrived with the defender heading home to send the Baggies one nil up at the break.
The Baggies then had more opportunities after the game had started for the second half. A quick flowing move ended with Josh Maja poked past the post before Nat Phillips and Charlie Taylor headed crosses over. Isaac Price directed a fine wide finish.
More disaster then followed as Charlton found the equaliser through Lyndon Dykes who went through and slotted under Max O’Leary 20 minutes from full-time.
Mowatt and Mikey Johnston thought he found the winner as he went close late on but it ended level at The Hawthorns and has seen the end for Eric Ramsay after seen his 44 days as manager come to an end that has been marked the shortest appointment in our history.

Another manager search for West Brom after Eric Ramsay has become the 4th manager to leave the club in 14 months. It hasn’t seemed to work for any of the managers during Patel’s era to date after Tony Mowbray saw 3 months, Ryan Mason saw 5 months and Eric Ramsay saw 6 weeks.
During the 6 weeks we’ve seen Andrew Nestor depart the club and no wins since the 29th December nearly 2 months ago.
Right now, we could be heading into League One come August and with only 12 games to go we need to start to kick on as there is a relegation six pointer away to Oxford on Saturday as James Morrison would take interim charge and would be hoping to turn this around to see if he can take the job permanently.
