The Baggies were beaten by league leaders Coventry City, and this latest poor result has left us in real danger, now just one point above the relegation zone.

An early Saturday kick-off always sets the tone for the weekend — and when you’re winless in 2026 and still waiting for that first victory under Eric Ramsay, it stops being about performance and starts being about urgency.

With Charlton Athletic and Oxford United up next, those aren’t just fixtures — they’re defining games.

It looked like another long, dreadful Saturday afternoon — something I’ve been calling it for a while now — as Coventry scored just six minutes in. Mason-Clark raced through and lobbed it past Max O’Leary, with Alfie Gilchrist unable to clear it off the line.

Coventry then doubled their advantage just after the half-hour mark, with Rudoni driving forward and firing into the top corner.

The Baggies didn’t hit back after the break there were a few chances as Mowatt saw a strike deflected wide and Callum Styles powerful attempt inside the area was blocked.

Jayson Molumby glanced a header wide as the clock ticked into the 70th minute, before Isaac Price drew a strong save from Carl Rushworth. Off the bench, Mikey Johnston also curled an effort over the bar.

Yet again the Baggies couldn’t find a goal as they are now winless in 9 league games and still yet to win in 2026.

Another poor afternoon at the office for Eric Ramsay and his Baggies side, as he suffered his seventh league defeat. He is already under pressure from the board, and many fans feel they have seen enough.

For me, he never seemed the right fit from the outset, and now he has two games to prove himself — Charlton at home and Oxford away — both looming as huge relegation six-pointers.
