The Baggies have suffered their second defeat on the bounce as they were defeated by a Hayden Hackney second-half strike at The Hawthorns.

It is the first time we have lost at home since April when Sunderland beat us 1-0, on Tuesday evening another north-tyne side Middlesbrough have beat us with the same scoreline making us lose 2 games on the bounce. Millwall is the game the Baggies are looking to bounce back from the recent defeats to try and see us climb back to top in the Championship.

In the first half saw assistant referee Rob Smith receive medical treatment before being replaced where fans gave their best wishes.

Middlesbrough had a number of chances when Alex Palmer saved Finn Azaz’s effort the former West Brom Academy player and Riley McGree also skewed his rebound over. Palmer then also saved Emmanuel Latte Lath’s shot towards goal.

The Baggies also shown chances after Middlesbrough’s threats when we began to create a chance as Jed Wallace saw his finish stopped inside the area.

The game was stopped during the 57th minute where the whole stadium paid tribute to Baggies fan Mark Townsend who passed away on Saturday participating in a period of applause.

In the 73rd minute, the deadlock was broken when Middlesbrough’s Hayden Hackney guided his goal into the bottom corner where they took the lead.

After the setback, Baggies tried to get one back with almost got one back when Josh Maja couldn’t guide his shot to strike one home despite the Middlesbrough keeper being beaten.

Another unfortunate result where the Baggies are 3rd in the Championship and we will go again against Millwall on Saturday at 3pm.

A defeat at The Hawthorns but still only 8 games into the league season and 16 points gained at the moment we have gained 2 points per game where that is the average points needed when securing automatic promotion. Another 38 league games to be played and we see how we get on against Millwall on Saturday before another international break.
