We are at the final stage of Euro 2024, Baggies Talk are here to preview the final as England have made it all the way to the final of the Euros for the second consecutive time. Can The Three Lions go one step further than three years ago to make football come home for the first time in 58 years?
The Three Lions are here again 3 years on since their last final at the Euros when they lost to Italy on penalties. Now they are back in the second consecutive final aiming to win the competition that they have never won. Spain are the favorites this time round meaning expectations are lower than the last final that England was favorites for.
England have reached the final by beating the Netherlands 2-1 with Bakayo Saka scoring with minutes to go to make us win on normal time. Spain won their semi final clash by beating France 2-1 with 16 year old Lamine Yamal getting on the scoresheet and is actually one of the best players of Euro 2024 and can anyone stop the Spanish Whizzkid on Sunday?
Can England actually win Euro 2024 and make football come home?
Player To Watch – Spain
My player to watch for the final for Spain is going to be Lamine Yamal he wouldn’t be 16 come the final on Sunday as he becomes 17 on Saturday a day before the final. He could be expected to play his best game to date in the Euro final for his birthday present maybe a goal or to win the Euros for his Spain side.
Lamine Yamal for me has been the one of the best players at the Euros this summer and also plays for Barcelona and played in the majority of games for them last season and already making his mark at the football stage.
He finally scored a goal in the semi finals to get Spain back level that helped them get to the final, but can Yamal do the same against England in the final on Sunday?
Player To Watch – England
Phil Foden would be my player to watch for England in the final, he has not yet shown his mark at the Euros so far but on Wednesday I’d say he was the best player on the park. He should of got at least a few goals in the game, with one where the ball crossed the line when a few inches it would of took England the lead. He also shot from long range that was on target with Netherlands keeper Bart Verbruggen denying Foden.
I think Phil Foden could become lucky this time in the final if he causes Spain’s defence a few problems with his long range shooting early on he could cause a few surprises and help us get a early lead. He has even got the England fans singing throughout the semi final clash with a new chant Phil Foden’s on fire with the chorus of Bruce Springsteen’s Dancing in the Dark that has got the fans hooked on the song.
I expect Phil Foden could become the star man in the final and could he help England win Euro 2024 in Germany?
My Line Up V Spain
An unchanged line up from the semi final game against the Netherlands. I would think of playing Watkins but I expect us to start with Harry Kane and most people think his had a poor tournament he can still go on and win the golden boot if he scores on Sunday making his goal tally to 4 as at the moment he is the joint top goal scorer with 3.
My Predictions V Spain
It’s where I make my final prediction of the Euros, don’t worry in 4 weeks time I be back previewing the Baggies games when they prepare for their 4th successive Championship season starting at Queens Park Rangers, I have not really covered much on the Baggies throughout this summer but in a few weeks I be previewing the 2024-25 season and be at most of the pre-season games too.
Lets get down to the prediction for the Euro 2024 final between England and Spain, I think we start well with England trying to attack from the start and in the first 15 minutes we would get a goal with Phil Foden getting on the scoresheet to make it 1-0 to England early on.
Before half time I say Spain would equalize with Dani Olmo scoring just before the break to make it 1-1 in the final. Second half, it would start off with nothing much happening and in the final 10 minutes I say it still be level with England putting Watkins on he tries to make it 2-1 but would miss.
I think it would go to extra time with the scores still 1-1 and I would say it would be disaster for England as I think Spain would score in the first half of extra time with Nico Williams adding the 2nd goal for Spain and near the end of extra time we would try and get back level but would lose again in the final to Spain.
Prediction: Spain 2-1 England (After Extra Time)
A defeat in the Euros final again I think it would be, I hope not though but I did say in the last 3 out of 4 finals who I backed to win all lost. Even I said in 2021 we would beat Italy in normal time but lost on penalties and France to win the last 2022 World Cup and Euro 2016 to Portugal. Lets hope it could be 4 out of 5 of my failed predictions and could win Euro 2024 but I am thinking Spain would win the Euros and just in extra time.
Lets see what happens on Sunday and see how it plays out before the final whistle is blown. Come on England.
