The last mid-week game of the league season for The Baggies on Wednesday night at The Hawthorns as they take on recently relegated Rotherham United. Can the Baggies get back to winning ways to boost their play-off hopes after another draw to Stoke City over the weekend?

Last time West Brom beat Rotherham 2-0 at New York Stadium in December 2023.

Unbeaten in our 9 league games by winning four and drawing five, but can we be unbeaten in ten with a game against relegated Rotherham at The Hawthorns. We did play them 2 weeks before Christmas with a 2-0 away win with goals from Grady Diangana and Jed Wallace. Last time out Rotherham lost 1-0 to Plymouth Argyle where they will be playing in League One next season.

Wednesday night should be the night where we should go back to winning ways and this is one of the games that we should get a result from to boost our play-off hopes. Last season we played Rotherham away for a chance to get into the Top Six but lost there 3-1 with a o brace so I am not expecting it to be a easy game for us at The Hawthorns as anything could happen here.

Player To Watch- Rotherham United

The one player who I was going to go for is now out injured with a knee injury, it makes it harder for me but I wouldn’t want to do him as I have not got over from what happened 367 days ago from writing this post at The New York Stadium.

On-loan Aston Villa Defender Sebastian Revan in action against Millwall on Easter Monday.

For Rotherham my player to watch is going to be Sebastian Revan, the Aston Villa loanee got man of the match award and a goal during Easter when they actually beat Millwall 2-1 on Easter Monday. The 20 year old centre back as been one of the best players for Rotherham this season who has helped keep their relegation going for another week and has won the most tackles 31 for a struggling side.

Revan I would say would be noticed more if he played for a team higher up in the table and I would say he would gain another loan spell next season in the Championship who would normally be in mid-table as he would be someone clubs would be chasing in the Summer Window.

I think he could help defend our attacking players on Wednesday with the likes of Mikey Johnston, Grady Diangana and Jed Wallace attacking threat he could be able to handle them but maybe not on his own as Rotherham has conceded the most in the Championship this season but I say he is the one to watch out for at The Hawthorns.

Player To Watch- West Brom

Brandon Thomas-Asante is West Brom’s top scorer with 10 goals this season.

My Player to watch for the Baggies on Wednesday night is going to be Brandon Thomas-Asante, I think this could be the game for him where he could find a goal against Rotherham United.

Thomas-Asante is the top goalscorer for our side this season with 10 goals in 35 games and with a goal against Watford I think it be the time he could get one here as he does love scoring at The Hawthorns where 8 out of 10 league goals have come from this season.

I say Asante would cause the Rotherham defence a few issues on Wednesday and will be the one player for us that Rotherham could watch out in this Championship fixture.

My Line Up V Rotherham

My predicted Line Up against Rotherham United

My line-up on Wednesday will be a few changes where I will start Semi Ajayi over Kyle Bartley who I think should get a start against Rotherham to gain some match sharpness and in attack I will start Jed Wallace who got a goal over Stoke and will keep Mikey Johnston, Grady Diangana and Brandon Thomas-Asante in attack.

Predictions

Predictions for Wednesday as I say it’s Rotherham United who are bottom of the league and relegated but I am not taking this game for granted. I remember very well we lost to them 3-1 last season and this could happen again with Jordan Hugill out they might have someone in the side who could give us a few problems.

However with Rotherham now relegated and The Baggies still have play-offs to qualify for I am not going to back us here after 3 draws to Millwall who beat Rotherham 3 days later, Watford and Stoke. I say it will be a 4th but frustrating draw here and I think the fans will not be happy come Wednesday night.

Am I expecting goals in this game?, yes and the first goal will come from the Baggies with Brandon Thomas-Asante getting one in the first 20 minutes and we will lead 1-0 at half time and then I say Rotherham will get one late on in the second half with Sebastian Revan equalizing late on to cause a heartbreak for the Baggies.

I know my prediction is bad but with our draws and our performances of late I don’t think we will get a result here and would say play-offs could go on till the last day of the season again but it’s still in our hands and knowing the Baggies in the past we do not normally get results against teams who are bottom of the table, but who knows lets just wait and see what happens here but for me 1-1 draw.

Prediction: West Brom 1-1 Rotherham United

Goalscorers for West Brom: Brandon Thomas-Asante

Goalscorers for Rotherham: Sebastian Revan
