A first home defeat since September for the Baggies on Boxing Day, after Bristol City won 2-1 at The Hawthorns.

After four minutes, Bristol took the lead following Mehmeti’s low strike found the bottom corner to give the Robins the lead.

Isaac Price had the opportunity to equalise where he raced through only to see his shot saved by Bristol City’s Max O’Leary.

Then the Bristol keeper kept out Diakite’s close range header not long after, sticking out a strong arm to deny the midfielder.

The Baggies missed chances was made to rue as the Robins found the second of the game and a two-goal advantage going into half-time.

Following the break, Karlan Grant saw one shot stopped and another attempt blocked, before Heggebo’s glanced an effort that went wide midway through the half.

Ryan Mason introduced Sam Iling-Junior and Daryl Dike, with the Baggies looking to get back in the game.

The Baggies halved the deficit in the 85th minute through Diakite’s maiden Albion goal that set-up a finish.

It wasn’t enough as Grant hit the crossbar during stoppage time and Bristol City held on to secure all three points at The Hawthorns.

West Brom 1-2 Bristol City

Goalscorer for West Brom: Ousmane Diakité

Goalscorers for Bristol City: Anis Mehmeti, Ross McCrorie

A defeat at The Hawthorns for the first time since September for the Baggies and now lost 4 in our last 5 games, Now 6 points above the drop-zone and with the ways things are going I think we could be in for a relegation battle.

There were a few times we could of got a result here but with the mistakes we are making I think it would still be a very long season even though we are half-way. Next up is QPR on Monday night in our last game of 2025 back at The Hawthorns.
