Queens Park Rangers have placed West Brom’s favourite Marti Cifuentes on gardening leave.

His assistant coaches Kevin Betsy and Xavi Calm would take charge of their first team affairs on an interim basis for their final fixture against Sunderland this weekend.

The Spaniard has held talks with the Baggies early this week and is the current favourite to replace Tony Mowbray who was sacked after the 3-1 home defeat to Derby last week. There has also been Steven Gerrard linked to the job today but it’s now looking likely that Marti Cifuentes could take over ready for our 5th successive season in the Championship.
