A 2-1 defeat at the hands of Derby on Boxing Day as Chris Brunt takes his first game as interim manager for the Baggies.

Both West Brom and Derby had early chances as Fellows shot wide, whilst Alex Palmer denied Josh Yates early on and a volley from Nat Phillips.
Albion went close to an opener midway through the period via Darnell Furlong’s low drive, which hit the woodwork.
Soon after Derby went ahead, Josh Yates wriggled free inside the area and converted well to make it 1-0 around the half hour mark.
Alex Palmer was then there to tip over another Josh Yates flick before the Baggies hit the post before half time through John Swift’s free kick.

At the interval, Uros Racic was replaced with Jayson Molumby and quickly threatened when Fellows set up by Mikey Johnston, saw a side-footed finish bravely blocked.
We threatened Derby as Mikey Johnston had a shot blocked and Alex Mowatt got denied at the rebound. Furlong also curled a good opening that was off-target.
Against the run of play, Derby doubled the lead with Jackson’s attempt that deflected past Palmer and gave the Baggies a mountain to climb.
Still we continued applying pressure and did find a way back into the game with Diangana who headed in from a Tom Fellows cross.
We tried to make an attempt to find an equaliser with Karlan Grant’s effort saved and a free kick that caused chaos only for Derby to leave Pride Park with all three points.
Derby 2-1 West Brom
Goalscorers for Derby: Yates (28), Holgate (68′ og)
Goalscorers for West Brom: Diangana (81′)
A defeat on Boxing Day and our first game since Carlos Corberan who left us for Valencia. We go again in a few days time to Sheffield United in what would be a tricky fixture for us again and hopefully get something that could give us something to celebrate coming into the new year.
