What a great Saturday afternoon it was at The Hawthorns as the Baggies have finally secured a play off place next weekend against Southampton after they beat Preston 3-0 on the final day of the regular Championship season.

Kyle Bartley scored the second goal in the second half.

It was a nervy first half with us controlling most of the game and was unable to convert those chances when Brandon Thomas-Asante volleyed wide and Mikey Johnston had his shot saved by Preston’s goalkeeper Freddie Woodman.

The hosts did manage to grab that all-important first, though, seconds before the break. Furlong did brilliantly to win a penalty, and Mowatt stepped-up to send Freddie Woodman the wrong way.

We managed to get an important first goal, seconds before the half time break. Furlong done well to win us the penalty and Alex Mowatt stepped up and scored the penalty sending Woodman the wrong way to give us the half-time lead.

We eased some nerves an hour into the clock, and it was Darnell Furlong who was involved with the right back’s throw reaching Kyle Bartley, who squeezed a header home and doubled our advantage.

The third goal came soon later and it was Darnell Furlong who would be my man of the match who found the net by Conor Townsend laying it for him to shoot from 12 yards out.

It was a great afternoon at The Hawthorns, we finally secured our play off spot where I thought at Sheffield Wednesday last week we was going to bottle this, but the Baggies are back to winning ways here for the first time in 4 games and we now go into the play offs with confidence and will face Southampton next Sunday at 2:15pm.

Thanks again for giving Baggies Talk support this season and I’ve been hearing from you that you’re enjoying my blogs and it’s nice to be noticed and keeping you engaged throughout the season with the blog only started in February. I am going to do a match preview on the two legs coming up and I’m going to be at The Hawthorns next Sunday against Southampton, Come On You Baggies and enjoy the rest of your bank holiday weekend.
