The Baggies go again as they try to gain a play-off place as they go to Hillsborough to take on a Sheffield Wednesday side who are fighting relegation in a game that is crucial at both ends of the table.

John Swift scored the only goal against The Owls following a 1-0 win back in October 2023.

We have now suffered two consecutive defeats a 1-0 loss over Sunderland and a 2-1 defeat on the road at Leicester last Saturday. Can the Baggies bounce back that can give them a place in the play-offs and kick on at Sheffield Wednesday?

Sheffield Wednesday have been in good form of late and spent most of the season in the relegation zone and looked certain to be relegated to League One this season. They are unbeaten in the last 4 games and they were remarkable away at Blackburn on Sunday as they won 3-1 and they are in good spirits coming into their home game against us in front of a packed ground at Hillsborough.

It is our first visit to Hillsborough since July 2020 where we won 3-0 with goals from Charlie Austin and Matheus Pereira and later that month the Baggies got promoted back to The Premier League. Lets hope we can repeat our success here again at Sheffield this weekend.

Player To Watch – Sheffield Wednesday

Ike Ugbo is my player to watch for The Owls after scoring 10 goals in 32 apps and is on loan from Troyes.

The player to watch for Sheffield Wednesday I am going to go for Ike Ugbo as most of the opposition strikers always score against us when we play away from home. It has happened a lot this season as Southampton, Middlesbrough, Swansea, Norwich, Ipswich, Huddersfield and Leicester strikers have all scored against us when playing at their home stadium.

I do feel our defence should watch out for Ike Ugbo as his their top goalscorer for Sheffield Wednesday this season with 10 goals after 32 appearances and he is also on loan for French side Troyes who are struggling in Ligue 2.

I think he could be someone on our shortlist for next season if Troyes and Huddersfield get relegated this season as I feel we are missing out on a number 9 in our crucial games and think Ike Ugbo could be someone Carlos and his scouting team could look out for in the Summer Transfer Window and he could be someone we could get on the cheap too.

Other than that, he is a Sheffield Wednesday player on Saturday and it’s now for the likes of Cedric Kipre, Kyle Bartley and Darnell Furlong to watch out for at Hillsborough.

Player To Watch – West Brom

Cedric Kipre in action for the Baggies this season and will be my player to watch for us on Saturday.

The player I’m going for the Baggies is Cedric Kipre as I’m expecting him to be at the heart of defence that will stop the Owls forwards, as I think Sheffield Wednesday will come at us in their crucial fixture at Hillsborough as they are also fighting relegation.

Kipre for me has been player of the season for us this season and has proved me wrong at the start of the season I wanted him sold after he made a few mistakes at our first game against Blackburn. He has since kicked on from that and has been one of the best players in the Championship this season and the fans were also chanting his name against Leicester on Saturday with a new chant “Cedric Kipre ole ole” and could ring out again in Sheffield over the weekend.

Lets hope he can stop Sheffield Wednesday from scoring or giving us threats as I expect it could be a end to end game or could go either way in this encounter with us a win away from gaining a play off spot or for them could be a win away and they are safe it also could relegate Birmingham City if the worse happens on Saturday and it could go to the final day for us to gain play offs with a home game against Preston a week on Saturday.

My Line Up V Sheffield Wednesday

My Line up against Sheffield Wednesday

My line up on Saturday there be a few changes as I would start Tom Fellows and Josh Maja instead of Grady Diangana and M’Vila as Tom Fellows provides pace and can create goalscoring opportunities for himself or can provide assists as I will be playing Josh Maja and should be his first start since his injury and I think Fellows and Johnston could give Josh Maja a confidence boost if they perform at their best if they could provide for Maja he could grab a goal.

Predictions

It’s now time for me to make my prediction against one of the biggest games in our season and Sheffield Wednesday’s. I expect Sheffield Wednesday to start off strong but I think it would still be goalless in the first 30 minutes in this away encounter. I say the Owls will lead before half time and say my player to watch for them will score first Ike Ugbo that will get Hillsborough rocking.

Second half, we will eventually get a goal back with a Mikey Johnston’s free kick to level the game and I do think there will be one winner in this game but with us only winning 6 out of 21 away games this season, I say we will get a winner with Brandon Thomas-Asante coming back off the bench after his suspension to give us the lead 2-1 and a goal from Tom Fellows near the end to finish the game off and secures the play offs for the Baggies.

I’m going for a Baggies 3-1 win at Sheffield Wednesday, lets hope it happens I say first half we always concede first in our away games but we will have enough to come out on top and get a win here.

I will be making I sorted it thanks to Black Country Albion travel for sorting me a coach and a ticket and now will be going to Hillsborough as I didn’t have enough loyalty points especially me going to every home game and 13 away games this season.

Lets hope we get the win and I will do a match review around Saturday evening to Sunday morning. Come on you Baggies.
