The Baggies produced a fantastic away performance at the London Stadium to stun West Ham United and secure a massive three points in the Championship promotion race. Goals from Felix Horn Myhre, Jimmy-Jay Morgan and a stunning strike from Callum Styles helped James Morrison’s side claim a memorable victory in East London, sending Albion up to fourth in the Championship table.

It was a performance full of energy, confidence and attacking quality, with the Baggies showing exactly why they deserve to be taken seriously in the promotion conversation.
And perhaps the most pleasing thing of all? Albion finally scored first!
After conceding the opening goal in six consecutive matches, Morrison’s men turned the tables on Saturday afternoon and gave the travelling supporters plenty to celebrate.
First Half: Horn Myhre Strikes Before Bowen Responds
West Ham started with attacking intent, forcing an early corner and looking to put Albion under pressure.
However, it was the Baggies who soon began to find their rhythm, moving the ball confidently and looking dangerous whenever they pushed forward.
20th minute — West Ham 0–1 West Brom! ⚽
Albion’s breakthrough came from a lovely attacking move.
Isaac Price played a superb pass through the West Ham defence, releasing Jimmy-Jay Morgan down the right-hand side of the penalty area.
Morgan showed excellent awareness to square the ball across goal, where Felix Horn Myhre was waiting to finish from close range!
What a start for Albion!
And it was particularly satisfying to see Horn Myhre make his mark after the discussions surrounding his place in the starting XI.
The Baggies almost doubled their advantage just minutes later.
Morgan was involved again, finding space on the right before pulling the ball back towards Price. Unfortunately, the Northern Ireland international couldn’t make the most of the opportunity, sending his effort wide.
It was a big chance to put some daylight between the two teams.
29th minute — West Ham 1–1 West Brom
Despite Albion looking the more threatening side, West Ham found a way back into the contest.
Jarrod Bowen drove into the penalty area from the right and sent a low effort towards goal. The ball took a deflection off Callum Styles, wrongfooting Max O’Leary and finding the net at the near post.
A frustrating goal to concede, particularly after Albion’s promising opening half-hour.
Nevertheless, Morrison’s side continued to compete, and there were plenty of positives to take into the interval.
Half-time: West Ham United 1–1 West Bromwich Albion.
For me, Albion could certainly feel disappointed not to be ahead at the break, especially after that excellent opportunity for Price.
But the Baggies had already shown they were more than capable of causing the Hammers problems.
Second Half: Morgan Restores Albion’s Lead!
Whatever James Morrison said at half-time, it certainly worked!
Albion came flying out of the dressing room and needed just three minutes to regain their advantage.
48th minute — West Ham 1–2 West Brom! ⚽
Once again, Price, Horn Myhre and Morgan combined brilliantly.
Price delivered the ball from the left, Horn Myhre cleverly cushioned it into the path of Morgan, and the young striker made no mistake, firing a low effort across Mads Hermansen and into the net!
GET IN THERE, JIMMY-JAY! 💙🤍
It was another important contribution from Morgan, who had already provided the assist for Albion’s opener.
The link-up play between Albion’s attacking players was a real highlight of the afternoon, and Morgan’s movement and composure made him a constant threat to the West Ham defence.
Of course, the Hammers weren’t going to surrender without a fight.
Max Kilman tested O’Leary with a header following a Bowen corner, while Kyle Walker-Peters also forced the Albion goalkeeper into action.
But O’Leary stood firm, producing the saves needed to protect Albion’s narrow advantage.
72nd Minute: Callum Styles Produces Something Special! 🚀
Then came the moment that effectively sealed the victory.
West Ham failed to properly clear an Albion corner, and the ball dropped invitingly to Callum Styles outside the penalty area.
The defender didn’t hesitate.
He unleashed a fierce strike towards goal, and with the help of a deflection, the ball flew beyond Hermansen!
WEST HAM 1–3 WEST BROM!
WHAT A STRIKE FROM STYLES!
The travelling Baggies supporters erupted as Albion opened up a two-goal advantage with less than 20 minutes remaining.
After the disappointment of his involvement in West Ham’s equaliser, Styles had produced the perfect response.
It was a fantastic moment for the Albion defender and another example of the character within Morrison’s squad.
Final Stages: Albion See Out a Famous Away Win
With a two-goal cushion, the Baggies managed the closing stages well.
West Ham made changes in an attempt to find a route back into the contest, but Albion remained organised and continued to frustrate the hosts.
There was a late effort from substitute Taty Castellanos, but O’Leary was equal to it.
As the final whistle approached, the travelling Albion supporters could begin to celebrate what was turning into a memorable afternoon in East London.
And when the referee finally brought proceedings to an end, the result was confirmed.
My Verdict: A Statement Victory From Morrison’s Young Baggies
I’ve been saying that Albion have the potential to cause teams problems when they play with confidence, and Saturday’s performance was a brilliant example of that.
Before the match, I felt our youthful energy could be the difference against West Ham, and that’s exactly what stood out to me.
Jimmy-Jay Morgan was outstanding. His assist for Horn Myhre’s opener and his own second-half goal showed why he deserves opportunities in this Albion side.
I was also delighted to see Horn Myhre on the scoresheet. He took his opportunity well and showed how important his movement and attacking intelligence can be.
Isaac Price deserves plenty of credit too. His passing helped create the first two goals, and he was a constant part of Albion’s attacking threat.
Then there’s Callum Styles. After the unfortunate deflection for Bowen’s equaliser, what better way to respond than by scoring a spectacular goal to put the game beyond West Ham’s reach?
And we shouldn’t forget Max O’Leary, whose important saves in the second half helped ensure Albion stayed in control.
Next Up: Southampton at The Hawthorns
And there’s no time to sit back and admire the result!
Southampton visit The Hawthorns on Tuesday night in another important Championship fixture.
I said before the West Ham match that I was actually more concerned about facing Southampton, and I still think they’ll provide a difficult challenge.
But after a performance like this, Morrison’s men should head into that game full of confidence.
West Ham United 1–3 West Bromwich Albion
Goalscorers for West Ham United: Jarrod Bowen
Goalscorers for West Brom: Horn-Myhre, Morgan, Styles
My final thoughts?
A brilliant away victory, a fantastic response from the players and a huge three points in the promotion race.
West Ham may have been considered one of the Championship’s biggest names, but on Saturday afternoon, it was the Baggies who looked the more convincing side.
