The Baggies had to suffer another late goal conceded as an excellent performance made us have to earn a point over in-form Southampton at The Hawthorns on Wednesday evening, the result has now put us second from bottom in the Championship with nine games remaining.

Morrison’s side started well without finding an opening goal, Heggebo’s flicked was saved over by Daniel Peretz was the closest they went early in the first half.

The Saints had a decent spell with Jack Stephens seeing his header go off the target and another effort saved, whilst Leo Scienza also curled in wide and Max O’Leary denied a Ross Stewart chance.

The Baggies saw Isaac Price smash a volley just past the post and in added time, we got the opener from a Callum Styles corner where Dike saw his chance cleared off the line however, Molumby was there to turn and hammer the rebound home, giving the Baggies the lead going into the break.

We continued performing well in the second half as Isaac Price and Daryl Dike tested Peretz from great opportunities.

The Saints tried to get back into the game but didn’t have a chance until their got their late goal as Cyle Larin send a header against the crossbar and down onto the inside of the post in added time, where the Baggies have now conceded late again as a great display has put them 2 places below into 23rd placed in the Championship.

West Brom 1-1 Southampton

Goalscorers for West Brom: Jayson Molumby

Goalscorers for Southampton: Cyle Larin

It ended all level over Southampton, we did enough to get the three points really just to concede well into added time. Now we sit in 23rd place and there are a lot of positives to take as we do not look a side that is fighting relegation. I think we would stay up and James Morrison would steer us out of the drop, there are 9 games remaining and with Hull up next on Saturday.
