The Baggies took a draw after a penalty shout that was not given after Heggebo’s shirt was pulled that made Ryan Mason go mad after he saw a red card from the referee given us nothing but a point at The Hawthorns on Saturday afternoon.

Mikey Johnston’s first half effort put the Baggies ahead, however Colby Bishop second half equaliser earned both sides a point.

It was Portsmouth who created the first opportunity, where Josh Griffiths stopped Florian Bianchini when going through on goal.

Mikey Johnston had his moment half way through the first half by converting his stunner from range to make it his first of the season.

Alex Mowatt then saw his deflected finish that was comfortably saved in the Baggies other chance before the half time break, though Portsmouth did threaten a few times without scoring. Griffiths then again denied Bianchini whilst George Campbell blocked Swanson’s volley.

We nearly went two up following the interval, with Mowatt effort hit the post and bounced clear. In the second half Portsmouth got one back in the 56th minute where Bishop smashed the ball home by a Josh Murphy cross.

A penalty shout was turned away after Heggebo looked to have been brought down inside the box where the referee then sent off Ryan Mason afterwards.

The game finished level where the Baggies continue their unbeaten start with a draw over Portsmouth.

West Brom 1-1 Portsmouth

Goalscorer for West Brom: Mikey Johnston

Goalscorer for Portsmouth: Colby Bishop

We should of easily won this game with the penalty shout, however I would take 7 points in the first 3 games of the season and we have been the dominant team throughout the first 3 league games and the cup game so far depsite losing on pens to Derby.

Next up is in form Stoke City at The Bet365 Stadium next Saturday dinnertime, where Portsmouth face Preston at Fratton Park on the same day but a later kick off at 3pm.
