The Baggies started their 2025/26 campaign off to a great start with a 1-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers on Saturday afternoon.

Isaac Price’s 15th minute goal was enough to give new head coach Ryan Mason his first league win. Next up is Derby Country in the first round of the EFL Cup on Tuesday evening.
The Baggies made a great start and was ahead with 15 minutes on the clock with Furlong’s long throw that allowed Price to break the deadlock to take advantage by side footing the ball home.
There was more chances for us throughout the half with Aune Heggebo has his attempt well saved and Isaac Price saw his effort blocked.
Blackburn put some pressure on the Baggies before half time, with Josh Griffiths denying Ohashi’s chance, where the scores remained 1-0 at half-time.
Rovers put pressure throughout the second half, even Albion has better opportunities and went close with Heggebo’s effort that was on target saved by Blackburn’s keeper Balázs Tóth.
Isaac Price threatened once more with his run and finish that was stopped whilst Callum Styles and Jayson Molumby both fired over.
The Baggies saw out a testing period in the final stages and Darnell Furlong saw a red card however it was enough to secure three points to start the new season to a decent start.

A decent start for Ryan Mason’s first competitive game in charge for the Baggies, it did seem to be a scrappy second half but I take whatever result is possible as few thought we would struggle against a Blackburn Rovers side.
Next up is Derby in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night under the lights at The Hawthorns before we take on Wrexham on Saturday lunchtime. Meanwhile Blackburn Rovers host Bradford in the EFL Cup this Tuesday and host newly promoted side Birmingham City next Saturday at 3pm.
